Excited to start on your projects?
Here’s how to start!
Laser machines are precise computer controlled machines that can cut and engrave on many different types of materials. We use vector or CAD-based files to accurately guide the lasers.
The laser will cut, burn or melt through your material based on these files to achieve fine cutting detail on your projects.
We have several laser cutting systems at Etchworks that can accommodate large-scale projects. So don’t limit your ideas! As long as we are able to cut the material and can fit it in our laser, we’ll give it a try!
Working with metals requires a different machine system than laser cutting and engraving. We have several different processes to engrave on metals, all of which are done via CNC systems to ensure precision results.
Direct line engraving can score and carve through your metal in outline form.
Metal etching digs into the metal to create deep impressions. These can be color filled.
Black Lasermarking can make permanent black marks onto the metal surface for that professional OEM finish.
Our machines allow us to cut through sheet metals up to 3mm thick*.
Acrylic is a versatile plastic material that can be engraved, cut and bent into shapes. With the use of our bending machines and tools, we are able to achieve clean curves and straight bends. The acrylic sheets are typically heated to soften the material and bend it into shape.
Bending acrylic is great for those projects where you need to add a 3-dimensional feel to your flat acrylic pieces.
All our different services make it easy to construct a finished product. We can build your creations from scratch with the help of our cutting, engraving and bending machines. Our specialists can also help with the design process to help you achieve the right output with our available services.

Here’s how to start!
Send us your artwork and we check to see if it is fine for the laser cutter and the material you would like to cut. We will need it in AI, CDR, or CAD formats. The machine reads vector strokes and shapes.
See our guide on the file types that we will need from you.
After assessing your file, we calculate the estimated cost of the job and materials to be used. We will need the finalized file to give you a more accurate quotation.
A job order is created upon down payment of your order. Once the job order is created, we start processing your files to make it machine ready. Then, we do our magic!
Depending on the complexity of your job, it may take a few days for us to accomplish your order. We don’t like to rush things because we want to make sure your get the best results.
Our machines are computer-driven so we will need your digital files to load onto it.
Our systems can only read vector strokes and shapes.
Here’s what we will need from you:
Vector graphics are composed of paths and lines, while Photo (raster) graphics are made up of pixels.
Vectors are made with programs like Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Inkscape or AutoCAD. Raster/pixel graphics are made with programs like Adobe Photoshop, Corel Photo-Paint or Sketchbook.
Since vectors are composed of paths, they are not dependent on resolution and can be scaled to any size without changing the sharpness of the edges. Raster graphics, on the other hand, are pixel based so they are resolution-dependent. You can almost never get a sharp edge with raster graphics.
To make certain that we process the right lines, follow this guide when making your file.
Cutting lines | Use RED stroke line in hairline thickness |
Engraving graphics | If image is not in vector format, use live trace to convert it to live trace; Fill object path with single color, no outline stroke. |
Engraving text | Convert all text to outlines; Fill with single color, no outline stroke |
Make sure no paths are overlapping to guarantee the best result.
We will need the logo or artwork for the sign, preferably in vector file. Also, be ready with the size you want it to be. If you have a design concept that you want us to emulate, please do bring pictures!
Yes! You can even bring in new materials that we haven’t tried yet. Our specialists will assess the material and decide if it is safe to work with, otherwise, we can test it out!
Yes, we can create your file. We do have a design fee for the file creation. Just let us know what you need to put, what materials you want to use, and how big the sign will be. If you have a design concept that you want us to emulate, please do bring pictures!
Yes! For your personal items, we typically check if it is okay to work with.
